(a) Check if the stop and start operation conditions (driver operation) are met.

(1) The driver seat belt is fastened.

(2) The stop and start system cancel switch (eco run cancel switch assembly) has not been pressed. (Stop and start cancel indicator light is not illuminated)

(3) The driver door is closed.

(a) Ensure the stop and start operation conditions (driver operation) are met, and check if the stop and start system operates.

  • Set the air conditioning system temperature to be approximately equivalent to the ambient temperature.
  • Front defroster is turned off
  • Turn off the blower switch and A/C switch, and then confirm that Data List item "Stop&Start Operating Permission (A/C)" indicates a value which permits engine stop by the stop and start system.
  • Confirm the air conditioning system conditions required for the stop and start system to operate are set.

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • Defogger Switch: OFF, and Blower Switch: OFF
  • With blower switch on, evaporator temperature below threshold (varies depending on each temperature, humidity, amount of solar radiation, etc.) and after certain period of time since engine restarted by stop and start system (threshold varies depending on idling stop conditions)

Heater:

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • Blower Switch: OFF
  • Blower Switch: ON, and A/C Switch: OFF

    (Ambient temperature higher than 10°C (50°F), engine coolant temperature higher than 55°C (131°F), or vehicle cabin temperature more than -5°C (23°F) lower than the set temperature)

  • Blower Switch: ON, and A/C Switch: OFF

    (after certain period of time since engine restarted by stop and start system)

  • Malfunction in Air Conditioning System is detected

Cooler:

Any of the following conditions are met:

  • Blower Switch: OFF
  • A/C switch: OFF
  • Ambient temperature 23°C (73°F) or less
  • Evaporator internal temperature less than 9°C (48°F), air mix damper opening value more than 10%, and vehicle cabin temperature less than 3°C (37°F) above set temperature or blower level less than 16 (when ignition switch turned to ON for first time in one trip)
  • Malfunction in Air Conditioning System is detected
