Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent

  • The speed sensor signal is excessively noisy.
  • The calculated change in wheel speed is more than 980 m/s2 for 5*1 or 20*2 seconds or more.
  • The calculated change in wheel speed fluctuates between more than 500 m/s2 and less than -500 m/s2 for 5*1 or 20*2 seconds or more.
  • When the vehicle speed is low, excessive noise in the speed sensor pulse signal is detected 3 times or more within 0.005 seconds for 5*1 or 20*2 seconds or more.
  • Front speed sensor RH
  • Front speed sensor rotor RH (front axle hub sub-assembly RH)

Comes on

Brake/EPB

  • SAE Code: C050A (Case 1 and 2)
  • Output ECU: Skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)
  • *1: The stop light switch assembly is OFF.
  • *2: The stop light switch assembly is ON.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

C050A (Case 1):
  • When any of the following conditions are met, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
    • The acceleration (change over a certain amount of time) of the respective wheel is more than a certain amount.
    • The amplitude of acceleration (change over a certain amount of time) of the respective wheel is a certain amount or more.
    • Noise in the respective wheel speed pulse occurs a certain number of times or more.
C050A (Case 2):
  • If extremely large noise occurs in the output signal from the speed sensor, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

MONITOR STRATEGY

*1: Influence of noise is recognized at 3 or 4 wheel speed sensor).

*2: The stop light switch assembly is OFF.

*3: The stop light switch assembly is ON.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

NOTICE:

When performing the normal judgment procedure, make sure that the driver door is closed and is not opened at any time during the procedure.

HINT:

  • After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.
  • When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
  3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and turn the GTS on.
  6. Wait for 3 seconds or more. [*]

    HINT:

    [*]: Normal judgment procedure.

The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.

  7. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB* / Utility / All Readiness.

    *: Electric Parking Brake System

  8. Check the DTC judgment result.

    HINT:

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE, perform driving pattern again.

Procedure to clear warning lights (When not clearing DTCs)

Procedure

  1. Repair or replacement.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  3. Drive the vehicle at 54 km/h (34 mph) or more for 3 seconds or more to clear the warning lights.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH (CHECK FOR FOREIGN MATTER)

(a) Remove the front speed sensor RH.

(b) Check the front speed sensor RH.

OK:

The front speed sensor RH tip is free of oil and foreign matter.

HINT:

If foreign matter of 1 mm (0.03937 in.) x 1 mm (0.03937 in.) or more is adhered to the front speed sensor RH, this DTC may be stored.
