CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during engine water pump assembly (water inlet housing) removal/installation are shown below.

NOTICE:

This procedure includes the removal of small-head bolts. Refer to Small-Head Bolts of Basic Repair Hint to identify the small-head bolts.

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

3. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE

Click here

4. DISCONNECT NO. 7 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(1) Disconnect the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly connector.

(2) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 7 water by-pass hose from the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

NOTICE:

  • Do not apply force to the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly when disconnecting the No. 7 water by-pass hose.
  • Do not damage the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

HINT:

When disconnecting the No. 7 water by-pass hose, slide the clip, rotate the hose and pull it straight off the pipe.

5. DISCONNECT SENSOR WIRE

(1) Disconnect the sensor wire connector.

(2) Disconnect the engine water pump assembly (water inlet housing) connector.

(3) Using an 8 mm socket wrench, remove the bolt and disconnect the sensor wire from the engine water pump assembly (water inlet housing).

6. REMOVE ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY (WATER INLET HOUSING)

(1) Remove the 4 bolts and engine water pump assembly (water inlet housing) from the cylinder block assembly.

(2) Using an 8 mm socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

(3) Remove the gasket from the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

(4) Remove the gasket from the engine water pump assembly (water inlet housing).

(5) Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the stud bolt.
