PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

(1) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(2) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:

  • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

(1) Support the button assembly with one hand.

(2) Connect the horn connector.

(3) Engage the wire harness clamp.

(4) Connect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

  • When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
  • Be sure to connect the connectors to each corresponding color.
  • Make sure the lock button is securely locked.

(5) Set the horn button assembly to the steering wheel assembly.

NOTICE:

Check that the airbag wire harness and horn wire harness are not pinched.

(6) Press the horn button assembly with both hands to engage the upper pin to the upper spring.

(7) Press the horn button assembly with both hands to engage the lower pin to the lower spring.

NOTICE:

After installation, try to pull the horn button assembly and check that the horn button assembly is securely installed.

2. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

3. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

(a) Make sure that the horn sounds.

If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system.

4. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

5. INITIALIZATION AFTER RECONNECTING AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

HINT:

When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.

    DESCRIPTION The brake pedal load sensing switch (brake pedal support assembly) turns on when the brake pedal is depressed with a force exceeding a predetermined level. The skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) uses this circuit to detect if the brake pedal is depressed or not.
