Toyota Corolla Cross: Calibration

CALIBRATION

NOTICE:

  • Initial AWD functions such as acceleration are sometimes affected unless backup memory is cleared.
  • When the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag ECU assembly) is replaced, Reset Memory must be performed.

RESET MEMORY

(a) Perform Reset Memory according to the display on the GTS.

ENTERING AND CANCELING AWD CONTROL PREVENTION MODE

CAUTION:

When using a drum tester while in AWD control prevention mode, secure the vehicle with a lock chain for safety.

HINT:

The operation of the dynamic torque control AWD system can be prohibited by entering AWD control prevention mode.

(a) Entering AWD control prevention mode (when using GTS)

NOTICE:

  • AWD control prevention mode is canceled when the ignition switch is turned off. When continuing the inspection after the ignition switch has been turned off during inspection, perform the procedures to enter AWD control prevention mode again.
  • Do not drive the vehicle while in AWD control prevention mode.

(1) Using the GTS, enter AWD control prevention mode.

(2) Check that "AWD TEST MODE" is displayed on the multi-information display. (Check that AWD control is prohibited)

HINT:

When AWD control is prohibited, the VSC OFF indicator illuminates and "Traction Control Turned OFF" is displayed on the multi-information display.

(b) Canceling AWD control prevention mode

(1) Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 60 seconds or more to cancel AWD control prevention mode.

NOTICE:

After entering AWD control prevention mode, wait at least 60 seconds before turning the ignition switch off. If the ignition switch is turned off within 60 seconds, AWD control prevention mode will resume when the ignition switch is turned to ON again.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON and check that the "AWD TEST MODE" is no longer displayed on the multi-information display. (AWD control prevention mode is canceled)

HINT:

When AWD control prevention mode is canceled, the VSC OFF indicator turns off and "Traction Control Turned OFF" is no longer displayed on the multi-information display.

(c) Entering AWD control prevention mode (when using manual operation)

NOTICE:

  • The operation of the VSC, TRAC and dynamic torque control AWD system can be prohibited by entering AWD control prevention mode.
  • AWD control prevention mode is canceled when the ignition switch is turned off. When continuing the inspection after the ignition switch has been turned off during inspection, perform the procedures to enter AWD control prevention mode again.
  • Do not drive the vehicle while in AWD control prevention mode.
  • Complete the input using the brake pedal and parking brake within 30 seconds of turning the ignition switch to ON (starting the engine).
  • If entering AWD control prevention mode cannot be confirmed, carry out the procedure again from step A after turning the ignition switch off.
  • Fully depress or release the brake pedal when switching the brake pedal between ON and OFF so that the stop light switch changes between ON and OFF respectively.
  • Apply or release the parking brake when switching the parking brake between ON and OFF so that the parking brake light in the combination meter assembly comes on or goes off respectively.

(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON (with the engine stopped). (*A)

(2) With the parking brake applied, release and then depress the brake pedal 2 or more times consecutively, and then keep the brake pedal depressed.

(3) With the brake pedal depressed, release and then apply the parking brake 2 or more times consecutively, and then keep the parking brake applied.

(4) With the parking brake applied, release and then depress the brake pedal 2 or more times consecutively again.

(5) Check that "AWD TEST MODE" is displayed on the multi-information display. (Check that AWD control is prohibited)

HINT:

When AWD control is prohibited, the VSC OFF indicator illuminates and "Traction Control Turned OFF" is displayed on the multi-information display.

(6) After checking that AWD control prevention mode is operating, start the engine.

(d) Canceling AWD control prevention mode

(1) Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 60 seconds or more to cancel AWD control prevention mode.

NOTICE:

After entering AWD control prevention mode, wait at least 60 seconds before turning the ignition switch off. If the ignition switch is turned off within 60 seconds, AWD control prevention mode will resume when the ignition switch is turned to ON again.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON and check that the "AWD TEST MODE" is no longer displayed on the multi-information display. (AWD control prevention mode is canceled)

HINT:

When AWD control prevention mode is canceled, the VSC OFF indicator turns off and "Traction Control Turned OFF" is no longer displayed on the multi-information display.
