Toyota Corolla Cross: Brake Pressure Control Solenoid "C" Control Circuit Short to Battery (C14F112,...,C14FA49)

Toyota Corolla Cross (2022-2024) Service Manual / Brake / Brake Control / Dynamic Control Systems / Electronically Controlled Brake System (for Hev Model) / Brake Pressure Control Solenoid "C" Control Circuit Short to Battery (C14F112,...,C14FA49)

DESCRIPTION

The ABS solenoid relay and reservoir cut solenoid valves are built into the brake actuator assembly.

When the brakes are operating, the reservoir cut solenoid valves supply brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly to the pump motor as necessary.

When this DTC is stored, the fail-safe function operates and the ABS solenoid relay is turned off to prevent the reservoir cut solenoid valves from operating.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

C14F1 and C14FA:
  • When the self-diagnosis function detects a master cylinder cut solenoid internal malfunction when the master cylinder cut solenoid is not operating, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F2 (Case 1) and C14FB (Case 1):
  • When it is detected by the self-diagnosis function that the feedback value from the master cylinder cut solenoid does not match the operation request value, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F2 (Case 2) and C14FB (Case 2):
  • When the downstream voltage of the master cylinder cut solenoid or the current flowing in the master cylinder cut solenoid is less than a certain value, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F2 (Case 3) and C14FB (Case 3):
  • When the master cylinder cut solenoid is not operating and the current flowing in the master cylinder cut solenoid exceeds a certain value (current leak is detected), the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F2 (Case 4) and C14FB (Case 4):
  • If the current flowing in the master cylinder cut solenoid, circuit temperature, or voltage drop within the circuit is a certain value or more, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) judges that there is a master cylinder cut solenoid overcurrent malfunction and illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F2 (Case 5) and C14FB (Case 5):
  • If the master cylinder cut solenoid is not operating and the resistance value of the master cylinder cut solenoid is outside of a certain range, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F3 and C14FC:
  • If the current, voltage or temperature of the master cylinder cut solenoid circuit is less than or exceeds a certain value, or the operation request value and feedback value deviate by a certain value or more, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.
C14F4 and C14FD:
  • When it is detected by the self-diagnosis function that there is a short to +B in the master cylinder cut solenoid circuit, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

NOTICE:

When performing the normal judgment procedure, make sure that the driver door is closed and is not opened at any time during the procedure.

HINT:

  • After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.
  • When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.
  3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
  4. Turn the ignition switch off.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) and turn the GTS on.
  6. Wait for 1 second or more. [*]

    HINT:

    [*]: Normal judgment procedure.

The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.

  7. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Brake/EPB* / Utility / All Readiness.

    *: Electric Parking Brake System

  8. Check the DTC judgment result.

    HINT:

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE, perform driving pattern again.
